John McAllister Presents Myrtle Grove at 2026 Southeastern Land Conference in Wilmington, NC

October 5, 2026, Columbia, SC – John McAllister BIC, ALC, AARE, President and Owner, John McAllister Realty Consulting, LLC of Columbia, SC presented Myrtle Grove, ±1,091.32 acres convenient to downtown Georgetown, SC, during the property showcase at the 2026 Southeastern Land Conference, “Where Land Meets What’s Next.” The conference, hosted by the Carolinas Chapter of the REALTORS® Land Institute (RLI), was held September 24–25, 2026 at 1826 Sir Tyler Drive, Wilmington, NC. It drew land brokers, developers, investors and industry leaders from across the Southeast to examine how technology, capital flows, workforce growth and infrastructure are reshaping land use in the region.


Conference events opened Wednesday, September 23 with the “From Dirt Roads to Fast Lanes” reception at a private car collection in Wilmington, sponsored by Coldwell Banker Sea Coast Advantage. Aubrie Kobernus, MBA, RCE, Chief Executive Officer of the REALTORS® Land Institute, delivered the Welcome & Industry Update. Educational sessions followed: “Powering the Future: Wind, Solar & the New Demand for Land,” moderated by LandGate; “Turning Constraints into Value: Mitigation, Conservation & the Modern Land Deal” with Vivus Viridis; “Federal Perspective: What’s Driving Development in the Southeast” with Grayson Overholt, MBA, of the Office of U.S. Senator Thom Tillis; “Agri-hoods & the Future of Community Development” with Daron “Farmer D” Joffe; and “Beyond Zoning: What Actually Gets Projects Across the Finish Line” with Audrey Duchesne of Planning Rêve.


The speaker roster also included Craig Kaiser, President and Co-Founder, LandGate; Karly Brownfield, Southeastern Wind Coalition; Adam V. McIntyre, Founder and CEO, Vivus Viridis; Zach Thomas, “The Title Cleaner,” Hiraeth Ventures; Peter Mazeine, ALC, CCIM, National Land Realty; Caitlin Vannoy, J.D., Director of Legal Advocacy, National Association of REALTORS®; Leigh Brown, CEO, One Community Real Estate®; Sarah Cawood, American Forest Foundation; Syed A. Shah, CFA, CEO, and Geno Ray of Eco World Water Corp.; and Dr. Robert Rubin, Professor Emeritus, North Carolina State University. On Thursday, September 24, Leigh Brown led “The Big Bid,” a live auction fundraiser for the Carolinas Chapter of RLI. During The Big Bid, McAllister donated from The McAllister Map Collection an 1865 map, North and South Carolina, by A.J. Johnson, New York, NY. Proceeds from the sale of the map were donated to The Land Education Foundation in memory of the late Bob Hatcher, RF, ALC, 2001 President of the REALTORS® Land Institute. The week concluded Saturday, September 26 with the Carolinas Chapter Annual Meeting and the installation of Larry Story, ALC, as Chapter President for 2027–2029.

During “The Next Deal” property showcase on Thursday, September 24, McAllister presented Myrtle Grove, also known as the Peterson Tract (www.myrtlegrove.net). The property is ±1,091.32 contiguous acres of King’s Grant land in Georgetown County, close to Historic Georgetown in the heart of the South Carolina Hammock Coast. It has never been on the market, lies within a federally recognized Opportunity Zone and is one of the largest contiguous tracts remaining in the Georgetown area.
Myrtle Grove sits between the scenic Sampit River and the historic King’s Highway corridor, with nearly a mile of frontage on U.S. Route 17, across the highway from Georgetown County Airport. Santee Cooper power transmission lines, water and sewer lines, and an SCE&G gas transmission line are located near the property. The landscape includes upland forests, pine stands and tidal marshland, and supports Lowcountry wildlife including deer, turkey and coastal birds. The region was historically known as a center of indigo and rice production.

McAllister is Past President of the REALTORS® Land Institute and, while President, instituted The National Land Conference. He serves as Chairman of the RLI Land Education Foundation, a member of the RLI Board of Directors and a Judge for the APEX Awards. In March 2026 he was presented the REALTORS® Land Institute Robert C. Meeks Distinguished Service Award. He has been recognized by the Carolinas REALTORS® Land Institute Chapter as Land REALTOR® of the Year.


McAllister graduated with a degree in Business Administration from The Citadel, Charleston, SC. He also graduated from The Executive Program, Kenan-Flagler School of Business, UNC Chapel Hill, North Carolina and The Senior Managers in Government Program, John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University. He is a licensed Broker in Charge in South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia and Virginia, focusing on real property owners, buyers and sellers. McAllister received The Alva H. Chapman, Jr. Distinguished Leadership Award and is in The Citadel Business Hall of Fame. He is married to Carolyn Cason Matthews.
