John A. “Johnny” McAllister, Jr. was born in Abbeville, South Carolina and began his business career working in his family real estate, timber and cattle business begun by his great grandfather in 1888 in Mount Carmel, South Carolina. McAllister, an Eagle Scout, graduated from Cambridge Academy in Greenwood, South Carolina. As a cadet, at The Citadel, he earned rank every semester after Knob year serving on Regimental Staff his senior year. He was advertising manager of both The Brigadier and Sphinx. Senior year, he served as Chairman of both The Orphanage Fund Committee and The Rod and Gun Club. Graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1980, he accepted a commission as an Engineer Officer in The South Carolina National Guard. He worked as the general manager of his family business, and then began a career in investment advisory services with The Robinson Humphrey Company. He graduated from The Robinson Humphrey Training Program in Atlanta, Georgia and was later designated a Financial Consultant when he graduated from The Shearson American Express Training Program in New York City. Before leaving Robinson Humphrey he was promoted to Vice President. He was presented an opportunity kick off land sales with Savannah Lakes Village, a large recreational and retirement community in McCormick County, South Carolina and was soon appointed Southeastern Power Administrator under President George H.W. Bush serving into The Clinton Presidency. While Administrator, he graduated from The Executive Program, Keenan-Flagler School of Business, Chapel Hill, North Carolina and The Senior Managers in Government Program, John F. Kennedy School of Government, Cambridge, Massachusetts. McAllister served on The Citadel Board of Visitors from 1988-1999 and served as Chairman of Buildings and Grounds Committee which began the physical transformation of The Citadel Campus. He voted for and witnessed the assimilation of women into The South Carolina Corps of Cadets. McAllister is President and Broker in Charge of MISSION POSSIBLE: John McAllister Realty Consulting, LLC. He is an Accredited Land Consultant and Accredited Auctioneer of Real Estate, licensed in real estate in South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia and Virginia. While serving as President of The Realtors Land Institute, he instituted The National Land Conference. He has been recognized by Carolinas Realtor Land Institute Chapter as Land Realtor of the year. He serves as Chairman of The Realtors Land Institute Land Education Foundation and a member of The Realtors Land Institute Board of Directors. He was inducted into The Citadel Business Hall of Fame, receiving The Alva H. Chapman, Jr. Distinguished Leadership Award and is the recipient of The Realtors Land Institute Robert C. Meeks Distinguished Service Award. He is married to The Carolyn Cason Matthews. They have three daughters and live in Columbia, South Carolina.
